●Founded in 1953, with a glorious history, PLA Military Engineering Institute (abbr. HME) was the predecessor of Harbin Engineering University (HEU), which is an important base of personnel training and scientific research inChina today.
●In 1996, HEU became an initial number of the ”211 Projects”, allowing it to be one of the universities to be greatly developed by the government during the “ninth five-year” period.

2. What preferential policy and study condition does HEU have?

5. How to transact the related registration procedures after the international students coming toChina?
All the applicants enrolled by HEU must take with the “Admission Letter” to register at the International Students Office of College of International Cooperative Education and their teaching colleges separately in the specified time.
1. Holding the passport to go to handle the formalities of entering apartment procedures.
2, Holding the passport,admission notice, JW 202 form, present pictures(4 one-inch, 4 two-inch) to register at the International Students Office of College of International Cooperative Education and take "New Comer Registration Notice"
3. Holding the passport, recent pictures (2 one-inch), and relating fees, to go toHeilongjiangEntry-ExitInspectionHospital for the health certificate or undergo a medical examination.
4. Self-paid applicants should hold “New Comer Registration Notice” to the tuition fee in financial office, and receive the receipt(pay more attention to maitain the receipt carefully).
5. Holding "New Comer Registration Notice" to the host college. The host college will handle the student card and library card other related cards etc..
6. The students that enjoy the scholarship collect the living allowance and settlement fee at the International Students Office of College of International Cooperative Education.
All international students should registeratthe International Students Office of College of International Cooperative Education within 15 days after the new semester opening.
If there is specified situation, students can’t register in time, they should ask for the absence ahead; otherwise will be withdrawn the university automatically. The university will cancel their studying registration in accordance with the relating regulations.

7. I arrived at HEU with visa F. What are the regulations of transacting Residence Permit and Visa?
Those who plan to study at HEU for more than one year (including one year) are to apply for an “X” visa. Those who plan to study at HEU for less than half a year (including half a year) are to apply for an “X” or “F” visa.
Those with an “X” visa are requires to apply for the Alien’s Residence Permit within 30 days after your arrival inChina. Those with an “F” visa and live outside campus are requires to have the foreigner’s temporary residence certificate.
For the students’ convenience, during the registration period, FAO will help students to apply for the Residence Permit. You may ask for further information from the teachers of FAO with the TEL: 0451-82568266.
When you apply for the Residence Permit, you have to submit the following documents:
a. Your passport and visa
b. Foreigner’s physical check-up (2 one-inch White or Light-blue Background picture)
c. Present two passport-size (2 inches) pictures
d. Insurance certificate inChina
8. Where can I buy food, house ware and clothing?
You can buy food, house ware and other things in the supermarket that is on the campus. HEU is located in the center of the city. There are some shopping malls near the campus. It's very convenient to go shopping.
9. How can I get to HEU from the railway station?
Method 1: Take the public bus No 14,61 to Harbin Engineering University Bus-stop.
Method 2: Take a taxi to HEU. It's about 15 minutes and costs RMB 15.
10. How can I get to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) from the airport?
Method 1: Take the Airport shuttle bus from the Airport to the Railway Station Bus-stop, and take the public bus No 6, 14, 74 to Harbin Engineering Bus-stop.
Method 2: Take a taxi to HEU. It takes about 60 minutes at a cost of RMB 130-150.
