In order to realize the goal of “Four-year Project of 100,000 American Students Studying at China”，said by US president Obama, to encourage the establishment and deepening of Sino-US cooperation between universities and to attract more American students to study in China, China sets up a special scholarship program for Sino-US exchange. This program establishes specially for American students who come toChinafor Master or Doctor degree programs or 6-month or 1-year visiting programs.

The details of CSC scholarship programs are as follows:

1. The Category of the Scholarship

The total number of the special scholarship for Sino-US exchange students are 10,000. The scholarship is divided into two categories: academic scholarship and credit scholarship, which will be implemented until the year of 2013.

2. The Applicants of the Scholarship

(1) The Academic Scholarship

The academic scholarship will be provided to the full-time American students (except the students achieved other scholarship), who apply for master or doctor degree programs.

(2) The Credit Scholarship

The credit scholarship will be provided to students who will study in Chinese universities for three months, at least, and American students’ colleges should also recognize the credits inChina. This program is mainly to encourage the sustainable development of Sino-US mutual recognition of credits, and to further expand the scale of the cooperation of sister universities or colleges.

3. The Content of the Scholarship

The academic scholarship students can get full scholarship as follows,

Master: free tuition, accommodation and insurance; providing living expenses (1,700 yuan per month) ; applicants should pay other expenses by themselves;

Doctor: free tuition, accommodation and insurance; providing living expenses (2,000 yuan per month) ; applicants should pay other expenses by themselves;

The credit scholarship is the part scholarship, that is, free tuition; other expenses paid by themselves.

4. The Application Procedure of the Scholarship

(1) All the applicants should login on Chinese Government Scholarship On-line Application website (http://laihua.csc.edu.cn, agency number is 10217) to fill in the information completely, and download the automatically generated form―“The Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form”. Then, the applicants should post the application form with signature toHarbinEngineeringUniversity.

(2) The academic scholarship applicants should provide the copy of the passports and notarized degree certificates and academic transcripts.

5. The Deadline of 2012 Scholarship Application

(1) The deadline of the academic scholarship is on July 15, 2012;

(2) The deadline of the credit scholarship is on September 1, 2012.
